In 1954, Glen MacMillan and Robert Puig began developing the area which is now Memorial Forest on the former Settegast Farm. By 1957, development was proceeding at a stready pace, and the Memorial Forest Civic Club was formed. Today, the Memorial Forest Civic Club is an important force in the neighborhood.

Not to be confused with the Memorial Forest Civic Club, the private Memorial Forest Club includes swimming and tennis facilities for members. The club features several events and some youth activities.
